Wayang Kata: The Music Edition @ No Black Tie

I was with some friends at No Black Tie last Tuesday night for Wayang Kata + Moonshine, which is an event where poetry meets jazz music and I got to say it was simply AWESOME. It's organized by the Malaysian British Council featuring Kim Trusty, Dizzy & The, Najwa, Reza Salleh and Mia Palencia. Highlight was the night was Mia Palencia and also Reza Salleh...obviously.

Destination Dilemma

It's that time of the year again, where I plan for my annual getaway. Every year, I always try to go somewhere out of Malaysia (NO! Singapore doesn't count), be it alone or with a group of friends. End of last year, I was in Bangkok alone and it was great fun. Sometime in March this year, I was in Phuket and Phi Phi Island with 2 other friends. It's now time to plan my year end trip! *YAY!*

Ok, so now what are my options? Well, I have the super expensive, the medium ranged, and the most affordable.

Option 1: The Expensive - Gold Coast Australia / Japan

These are the 2 places I would want to go at some point, but somehow this idea always ends up in the bin due to the high currency exchange.

Pros: Gold Coast / Tokyo?....need I say more + Air Asia now flies to GC

Cons: Super expensive. I think if I were to go any of the 2, I will end up eating white bread and sugar for the next 2 - 3 years. Whilst the price of flying there is rather reasonable, it's the accommodation and everything else there that is the "killing" factor.

Option 2: The Medium Ranged - Korea

While I have heard so many things about Korea, I haven't been there before. I was told by most people to follow a tour as you can get lost easily as there due to language problems. Nevertheless, I'm always adventurous and if I do go, it will be without the assistance of a tour guide :)

Pros: Korean food, shopping and Korean chicks! Some place I haven't been to before.

Cons: Language might be a problem here. High possibility of getting conned, lost or kidnapped.

Option 3: The Most Affordable - Hong Kong

The last time I was in Hong Kong was in 2006, and I vowed to return to the beautiful city. I really love it in Hong Kong, partly due to the nature of the whole city and the weather during the year end.

Pros: The food, shopping and more shopping!

Cons: While this might be the most sensible and affordable destination, Hong Kong is a place I have been to before. I want to explore places/countries that I have not been to before.

So how? If you have to choose just one of the 3 above, which will you choose?

The Naked Truth

Behold the all new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution a.k.a. Evolution 10. Well this is what I am currently busy working on...the website launch of this beast of a car. Bet you didn't know that the Evo 10 is the only car of the Evolution series that is build from scratch without any reference from the previous 9 of the series. It's a fucking awesome car that any car enthusiast will definitely drool upon.

Anyway, I won't tell you much and want you to check out the website for details later on. Or you can check out the car review done by Top Gear where it totally outclassed and out performed the Subaru Impreza WRX in all areas.

Noticed the count down timer on the teaser site? Well, that is also my deadline that I am currently rushing for...so in a way, when we brilliantly suggested the countdown timer idea to our client to create the hype...little did we know it's like signing our death sentence as well! :(

The launch event is tomorrow and the client has promised us a first hand test drive of the new Evolution car after the launch *yay!!* Now...only thing is if I can even make it for the launch in time while putting up finishing touches to the website. So stay tuned for pictures of the launch (hopefully) and also the website.

Friday Night @ Waikiki Too

I finally manage to get my internet working again! Don't ask me why, how or what....as long as it's up, I'm happy.

Anyway, last Friday, we had a drinking session. Why? well...Jek said he was "thirsty" and it was suppose to be for 2 other colleague's birthday celebration (ever the more reason to drink right?). The drinking session almost didn't take place at all as Jek, the host himself, had a back strain that day and could hardly walk, and Rabin on the other hand was really tired after taking some medication. I was already about to make other plans for that night when suddenly, I was roped in an online chat which had everyone asking about the night's plan....and who initiated the chat?...why Jek himself of course...it seems alcohol now is the official cure of all physical and emotional pains as well eh? So we then assembled a drinking crew for the night, which consists of colleagues, friends and clients. We had not 1, not 2, but F-O-U-R bottles of Dewar's that night. What happened after that? Well...suprisingly, there weren't any major casualties....but there were certainly some entertaining "moments" and people after that...hehehe

These are some shots from that night:

These are 2 bottles out of 4 that night!

Everyone say "CHEEEEZZEEE!!!"

Streamyx-less...Thanks to Stupid TM NET

As the title says...I'm STREAMYX-LESS! NO that is not a good thing especially for a person like me who relies on the internet for everything. The internet connection in my condo is down and I don't know why! Seriously I can die without the internet. I'm writing this entry back in Shah Alam and is very frustrated to the point where I kept scolding people from TM NET (they deserved to be...their so fucking incompetent!)

Here's what happend...3 days ago, my internet suddenly stopped working. My first thoughts were, ok...maybe TM NET are doing something to the line so I just ignored it. The following day, it still couldn't get connected. I then called TM NET to ask what was the problem was, and they say that the there might be some issues with the port to which they have to reset. Fine....but the problem still persist after a few hours and I was really getting frustrated. I called again and they told me that they will send over a technician the next day to look at the problem.

So yesterday, the technician came and tried to connect using my modem. The technicial was obviously untrainned as he thinks I was some kind of dimwit who doesn't know anything about the internet and told me to do this and that. He then took out his modem and try making a connection....guess what it works!...so first thing I thought was that I have a faulty modem which needs to be replaced. I then went to purchase a new 3-in-1 modem (modem, router and access point...the one I have currently is the same)....not cheap ok...RM195 leh! So I went back all excited only to discover that the same problem persist. At this point I wasn't in the mood for anything else...imagine just spending that amount and I still cannot get it to work.

After dinner, Rabin came over and try to help me out. I called TM NET 5 fucking times and they still don't seem to get my problem. They also kept asking the same questions which really annoyed me..."Your ADSL light...got or not?....blinking or not??....did you change your settings on your modem??" For the gazillionth time! "I DID NOT TOUCH ANY SETTINGS AND IT WAS WORKING FINE 2 DAYS AGO!!!" I really think TM NET really have to train their staff to follow up reports rather than always asking me what's the problem each time.

Just to illustrate how moronic TM NET is...I heard this as a part of their waiting infomercial: "...to connect to the internet, make sure your username and password is correct...for more troubleshooting tips, logon to tm.net.my for more information" WTF!?? How can you troubleshoot via the website if you have trouble connecting to the internet to begin with? Stupid isn't it? They should just ask their customers to go to the nearest Starbucks or something.

Now here is the best part...I'm sitting here writing this entry...CONNECTED VIA OLD MODEM!!! ARRGGGHHHH!! Which means...TM NET has a problem with the line in my condo....which means...I just burned RM 195 getting a new modem for nothing!....which also means TM NET SUCKS! They suck because they can't solve my problem fast, and they suck because they gave me wrong information regarding my modem. Rest assured, I will file an official complaint on for their incompetence. So now...anybody wants a new 3-in-1 modem??

On another note, I survived the mad week last week and met my project deadlines on time *phew!*. Having said that, our office had an ice-cream party courtesy of New Zealand Natural on Thursday to which we had a whole freezer full of ice cream. Clients and friends came over to enjoy the party and also to play Nintendo Wii. Will post up pictures of Thursday's event and Friday night's drinking session soon....once I get my internet up and running again....sighs!

Update: 10 August 2008

Hey loyal readers. In case you haven't noticed, it's been quite awhile since I last updated the blog. I have been super busy for the past 2 weeks, having so many project deadlines back to back that going back around 730-8PM daily has become a norm. But having said that, I somehow still found time to accommodate guest to my condo throughout the week.

On Tuesday, Olivia and Rabin came over for a couple of glasses of Glenfiddich, and just to chill out, then on Thursday my ex colleagues brought pizzas and opened a bottle of Jack Daniels and last night, my cousins came over and chill out with a bottle of wine. Wow...my place is becoming a bar of sorts...but I'm not complaining because it was intentionally meant to be that way in the first place...hahah..

Jack Daniels....yum!

After the pizza dinner...

Wine night..

I just finished Sunday brunch with Suzanne, May Lynn, Bee Leng, and Evie at La Bodega, Bangsar. I must say, I think I'm becoming more of one of the girls the more I hang out with them as the topics of conversation were on Brazillian waxing, pubic hair...and errr...ok...enough information for now...but you get the point...topics that only girls talk about...and they don't seem to noticed that a guy is actually in their group =.= What's more...they are coming over to my condo later to watch the Sex And The City movie!

* Updated pic @ 10:38PM *

Us half way through Sex And The City...

Well, I guess should enjoy my weekend for now (or what's left of it...sigh!), as I will be having a very busy week ahead. 2 new projects to be completed before the next weekend *faints*. Then again, I also got 3 events happening in a row starting Thursday night....so hopefully, that will be my "de-stress" and motivation factor. So if I don't update my blog, it's because I'm too busy....either working or partying...hahaha..

Oh...btw... HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHEA LI! ;)
