Blind Dates
Yesterday, I met up with L at Pavilion for dinner, along with her friend R. Now it’s quite common for a girl to bring a friend along on the first meeting. I mean, there are a lot of psychopaths around these days and I totally understand. But not all of my blind dates are like that anyway. I’ve know L for probably close to 2 years now, but our communications were only mainly through MSN Messenger, Facebook and via mobile. We finally met up in La Bodega for dinner and I lets just say everything went well, and she was all I expected her to be.
Hey if you’re thinking that I’m doing all this to get to know more girls…well, YES you’re probably half right! I’m not shy to admit it. But meeting up a girl does not mean that I like that girl or that I’m going after her; neither does it mean that I want something in return from her (you know what I mean). People always seem to assume those things immediately when you tell them that you have a date. For me, meeting them means I gain a new friend (and in yesterday’s case 2 new friends), a chance to expand my social network and potential business opportunities. Of course I don’t deny the fact that there could be a possibility of ending up more than just friends. But anyway, that’s not the point!
I guess what I’m trying to say here is that I can safely say that I been on enough blind dates to qualify in giving these tips if anyone wants to try it (at least I think I’m qualified :p):
1. Go on these dates with an open mind.
2. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT expecting anything, most of the time, you will end up gaining something anyways.
3. Don’t be pretentious – just be yourself. I’m very turned off by a pretentious person. If that person don’t like the way you are, so be it. You’re better off not being friends anyway.
4. Try to impress your date, but don’t try too hard and over do it. Over doing it will bring you back to point number 3.
5. Never judge a book by its cover. Doesn’t mean if she didn’t put on any make up that day or she has a birth defect somewhere that she is automatically classify as horrible looking. Beauty lies from within and so does compatibility. Although first impressions do give you a gauge of her personality.
6. Communicate! There is nothing more boring than going out with someone who just sits there like a piece of dead wood.

Cousins Gathering 2008
Every year, my cousins and I will always organise a get together basically catch up on everyone, chill, drink, do ridiculous stuff and have fun. Think of it as a reunion, but only for us cousins (so there can be endless alcohol consumption and stupidity without aunties and uncles). For the last 4 or 5 years or so, we've always had it in my cousin's place in Ampang. Sadly, they moved to the States and sold the place (I miss Villa Aman!). Anyway, this year they were back for CNY, so we had it at Danny's place in Kota Kemuning. There were a couple of absentees this year. My brother and Karen who are both on their honeymoon in the States, my cousin Szue May, who is in Sunderland buzy with college life, and Han Sen. However, there was a surprise when my cousin Pearly who came back all the way from Manchester to join us.
Being CNY, we had Yee Sang and everyone else brought food ala pot luck. The night continued with bitching sessions and catching up with everyone. Usually, we will then play some kind of drinking game and hope everyone gets happy. But this year, again being CNY...there is only one thing to do....GAMBLE!!! We started of playing Blackjack, but then it wasn't really "chee kek" enough. We switched to our customary game...IN BETWEEN. In case you're wondering, this has been a tradition in our family. Every year during CNY, uncles, aunties, cousins....everyone will gather round a table to play. Last year, the pot went up to a record of approximately RM3500!!!
This year however, it went up to about RM400++ seeing that we only had all cousins playing.
Nevertheless, we all had a blast every year. Hopefully, the next gathering will be in my cousin Jacqui's place in South Carolina! Now wouldn't that be something huh?

Sai Mm Sai Ah?

Ok, so this is old news to some, and yes this pic was taken by a friend earlier in the day, but anyway.... at first many people thought this was a hoax but not until The Star reported it when everyone believed it. David Tan is the face on the billboard. He did fork out RM 40k for the billboard space and to top it off, he got her a RM14k ring. Kelly Tan E Li, you must be the luckiest girl on Valentine's Day. Question is...is it worth to splurge all that cash? I mean I can understand, if you're a son of a millionaire or you've hit the lottery or something, but no ordinary person would do something so dramatic and public. If this is the proposal, can you imagine the wedding? Isn't a person always suppose to "one-up" the proposal? But ever wondered what will happen if she declines? Do you think he has a back up plan or a 14 day money back guarantee policy?? But anyway, my hats off to the lad! You have set a very high benchmark for us guys here. Spoil market lah you!!! So to all guys, be prepared!
It just goes to show that sometimes, love holds no bounds.
Valentine's Day
My Valentine's Day was great! How did yours go? ;)

I Got My Bling Bling

The limited edition Absolut Bling Bling. This bottle arrived yesterday all the way from Israel. Yes I bought this bottle through eBay and it cost about RM 114.00 including shipping. I think it's ok considering I haven't seen it here. The package came with some Israeli words and stuffed with bubble wrap. At first glance it did looked like a bomb package. But anyway, I'm happy, and I'm still scouting for other rare Absolut bottles. So I have alerted people who are going abroad to be on the look out for me.
On another note, Happy CNY everyone!
P.S: Still waiting for my bro to pass me photos of his wedding...so wait for that and be patient!
