A Fairytale

once upon a time, in a not so distant land, there lived a humble man named Rupert. Like any other man, Rupert has everything that a man could ever ask for. The only thing that eluded him is love and a companion and if he has that, his life would be complete (to him at least).

One fine day, while taking a walk through the meadows, Rupert saw a girl atop a castle. She was looking out the window looking in a dazed, lonely and sad. You can say it was love at first sight because she was a very beautiful girl. From that day on, Rupert makes every attempt to just walk pass the castle everyday just to get a glimpse of her. As time goes by, the girl too took noticed, and they started talking whenever Rupert walked passed. She introduced herself as Regina. Regina told Rupert that she felt trapped in the castle and that her current “Prince Charming”, who she lives with is a disgusting and inconsiderate person who does not care for her enough. She wanted freedom and wanted out of the current relationship. In time, both of them seem to fall in love with each other. Rupert, being so crazy for her decided to take matters into his own hands and plots a rescue. The problem is the castle is surrounded by 10 feet walls, and guards. He has no clue how many guards there are nor does he know what lies beyond those castle walls. Nevertheless, he was really determined to get her out of there and win her heart.

Rupert planned and trained for months to execute his plan, to fight off the guards if he must and to “snatch” Regina from away from her “Prince Charming”. Alas came the day to do battle. He scaled the castle walls and do battle with the guards. He finally succeeded in “rescuing” Regina and saved her from her misery. Regina left her “Prince Charming”, and went with Rupert. Both of them were so in love with each other. They then live happily ever after….well guess again!

Few days passed and things started to change. The Regina suddenly got “bored” with Rupert and for some reason, and things took the turn for the worse. Regina felt “suffocated” with Rupert but somehow don’t know how to tell him that. Rupert in turn felt neglected that Regina is not giving him the same amount of attention or love that she has given him before or when they first fell in love. Numerous times Rupert tried to persuade and make Regina happy again. But in the end, Regina’s response was still the same and she didn’t seem like she was going to change her mind.

Rupert finally gave up on her. He has to do the right thing for him to be happy again, and that is to leave her. Rupert felt that if Regina is not responding to his pleas and his attempts, it is no point carrying on. So Rupert told Regina that he loved her but this is something that is not going to work out. Regina agreed and told Rupert that if he thinks it’s the right thing, then he should leave. Rupert packed up and left with a feeling of disappointment. He felt that he was just being used by Regina to escape from the castle and her “Prince Charming” and now that she has freedom, she decided to unload Rupert as well. – The End.

The moral of the story is:
“Wake up and stop dreaming! Life is NOT a fairytale and does not always have a happy ending.”
